Default Don't buy a water pump from Advanced Auto for your Duramax...

From what I have been reading, you might now want to buy a GM OE, Advanced of AZ water pump for your Diesel engine.

We installed a water pump from Advanced Auto Parts in a 2001 Chevy 3500hd with the LBZ Duramax engine. Truck ran good until we gave it some throttle, man if that water pump produced a wine that could have your nerve endings in your spine to signal a (shut that truck off now). Apparently, even the OE GM water pump will say Made in the USA with parts from around the world. So I guess this is the reason why the gear on the water pump is a little different than the cam gear that it mates with.

From what I have found, only Napa Auto parts provides a quality part that will not wine like we experienced.

If only I had seen where a GM tech gad recommended a Napa water pump before we made the repair.

Oh well, maybe this warning can help someone else before doing 2 water pump jobs on one truck.

See ya around on the HDtruckforum!
