Default Loping on cold start

So I think I figured out the culprit to my loping issue on cold start up. Im running rotella 15-40, its getting too thick over night in the cold. we have been having 30 or below nights lately so I have had some cold start loping.

I thought I would just throw this out there for the sake of the forum, and hopefully it will pick up on the search engines ha ha. I read that the loping problem occurs with thicker oil during the winter because the oil is getting to cold and thick and wont fire the injectors right away. the loping only lasts for a couple of seconds, then it idles like normal. A change to 5-40 will probably cure the loping. Plugging in the block heater helps, but I usually leave mine plugged in to a timer that comes on for 3 or 4 hours in the AM, but we are shut down for the winter so I drive it at random times now. That damn block heater makes a big difference on the power bill to leave it plugged in all night. Im going to change the oil in a couple of days, hopefully that helps, if not i guess its time to check some sensors.

Yep, prolly it. Below 40 my truck will lope if not plugged in. Hard to pump that thick oil through to fire the injectors!
