no helping till he joins HDTF, lol....well he's in canada so he might be towin in mountainous terrain (i know big words for a red neck from TN lol), could have a heavy foot, the trans is gettin fooled into goin into a lower gear for some reason. at my shop back at langley we have a 2008 F350 super duty, 6.4 powerstroke, sequential turbo, QCLB, single rear wheel, 4X4, auto. (just let me say first that i hate this thing for several reasons, if you wanna full review on it just ask) this thing gets about 15.5-16.5mpg MAX just toolin around base at 35mph (normally around 14mpg though), it got about 16-17mpg when we drove it to and from Rome NY for a TDY. when this thing is towin though we get between 5-9mpg, depending on the load, 9 is with a trailer mounted manhole pump hooked to the hitch. the pump is a Godwin CD200M weighin in at about 3200lbs; 5-6.5 is with a 18' flat bed with a Case 960 trencher (fully outfitted) combined weight of trencher and trailer of 16,000+lbs. so low towing mpg's don't really surprise me with a power stroke. no offense meant by that either, it's just my experience with the different makes

also this is a GOV truck so no it doesn't have anything aftermarket, also it is geared as low as Ford would gear a 2008 F350 stroker. and sometimes she might possibly get run off JP-8 lol

Fig, tell this guy to have his calibration checked for a correct barometric pressure reading. That little bitty sensor can wreak havoc on a fuel map. Also check for any unnecessary emissions programming (like a California tune). Them tree hugging yuppies have screwed us all up... Hope this helps him...
