The red jackets are the President's Own Marine Band from Washington DC, they are a very unique unit in the Marine Corps as they are the only ones that do not go through boot camp and come into the Marine Corps with the specific job of being the band attached to the President of the United States and not a deployable unit. They are an incredible band as most of them came from prestigous music schools from around the world. They travel the country throughout the year and occasionally join up with a fleet band like the one I was in and play a concert with us.
