My dad bought it new in 77. Custom ordered it. He gave it to me about 10yrs ago when he bought his 97 F250. He said it didnt owe him anything. Original motor, clutch and some original ujoints. It had a plow on it all its life till I got it. Always had a trailer on the back to haul tractors he had to pick up for customers to work on.

Not much to look at. Bed is shot as you can see. Needs normal patch panels to fix it like cab corners and bottom of the doors and drivers side floor pan. The AC quit workin a few yrs ago. Everything else works. I dont use it that much since I bought my 99. Had a huge water tank in the back when I was with my ex cause she had to haul water. Now its just my wood cuttin truck. Starts up everytime when it sits for months. Oil pan is rusted on it since it never had an oil leak and the ks winters with all the salt finally got to it, just lazy and havnt fixed it. The exhaust manifolds are so bad that i would have to pull the heads off to get ALL the broken bolts out cause I know they will break. I put the stacks on but only one is hooked up since I rigged it up and the manifold flange is gone haha. I will never get rid of that truck. I will restore it one of these days. Its a good ole friend that I just cant get rid of and deserves to be fixed up to original. I'd like to keep it all original minus maybe puttin some good wheels on it and maybe just put a flat bed on it. I dont know yet. Its a highboy so its already rare and sits high enough for me.

My parents bought this from a college kid in the mid 70's. The 302 was blown and the vinyl top was ripped. He dropped in a 289 hi po out of our old boat. He fixed it up and my mom drove it for yrs till my bro was born in 84. I was brought home from the hospital in this car so Im very attached to it. We parked it in 85 when we bought our Bronco II as the family rig. I bought it from my parents in the mid 90's for 1k. I got it runnin for my freshman yr of highschool and worked on it as I drove it through highschool. Finally got it painted before my senior yr in time for senior pics.

I drove it through out highschool and part of my college yrs. Its finally gonna need a ground up resto. Floor pans are gettin bad. Needs all new rear quarters cause I've patched them so many times. I put on a cougar eliminator front chin spoiler and rear spoiler and a fiberglass hood. I grafted the pro stock scoop on it. Has hedman headers, msd wires, edlebrock carb and intake. Has a diff cam in it. Its got header dumps on it and sounds like a dragster. Sounds really good like a big block car. I would drive it across the country if I had to. I'd like to do a restomod restoration to it. Modernize it for the hot rod power tour one of these days. I only drive it on nice days when its not wet out so it doesnt rust out anymore haha.
Looks awesome man. Ive always wanted a 67-68 cougar xr7. My dad had one when he was in highschool and has always wanted one. I love the look of them. I'd love to restore one and give it to him (with my own driving pro slaves as well) but I've got the fam to take care of I can't exactly spend 30k on a restoration just to give it away right now. I gave him a granddaughter that should be good enough for now.
