It will not mess it up. It will say it cant read it if it's vin locked. If its not it will prompt you to continue the program.

No worries, it will either work or not, but you wont have any problems if it doesnt work.
Just follow the program if it works, and do not interupt it for any reason. Even if you forget to do something it says to do. It will just make you start over. And if you do inturupt it, it could erase everything.
