speaking of the drag car. i had an old guy tell me once to put about a cup of nitromethane in my tank everytime i filled up, this was with a 48 gal tank and when we were runnin 73% nitro 27% methanol. i wonder what it would do in a diesel? i've heard of racing planes adding nitromethane to there fuel also

crackerjack 04-26-2012 02:53 AM

and yeah i did put the nitro in my 88 c1500 like he told me and it did get about 1-2 miles better, seemed like a little extra power, and burned a little cleaner too

Davenportdiesel 04-26-2012 02:57 AM

I would say It would blow the heads off if it makes it through the injection pump without slowly destroying it I would imagine it wouldn't have the lubricity needed this crappy low sulfur diesel fuel is bad enough

crackerjack 04-26-2012 03:00 AM

very true. diesels are much closer to the compression required to ignite nitro properly than gassers are. i looked it up yesterday what the compression is supposed to be on a 12 valve but i don't remember now. but we run 19.5:1 on the drag car
