Ford 6.7 carnage

Lately I've been hearing and reading about this engines not withstanding all the boost it makes ones tuned. They been adding compound set ups with no luck.. Bottom end isn't as strong as a 6.4.. What do you all think? Heard anything?

Honestly I have t heard anything about it yet. I am curious though, I may look it up when I get home.

I heard good things on it in stock form but not modded. Hope its good cause Ford needs a good motor in their trucks. Should've kept the good ole 7.3's or just build a bad ass 6.0 or 6.4.

the diesel mechanie at the local ford dealer said the 6.4 and 6.7 is the same exact motor but the truck just has a dif computer .......

I would think International would have some issues with Ford building a diesel engine (6.7) that closely resembles their design (6.4)

I have never looked at the 6.7 so I have no clue really on their design. I know the 6.0 and 6.4 are similar in block design to a degree.

I had not heard of bottom end problems with the 6.7 but I don't really look into them much yet. I do know they have had injector issues....injectors sticking open and hydrolocking the engine.

My Brother is a Parts Manager at a Ford Dealership and they have had a few in for that. One hydrolocked while cruising down the interstate....broke a rod and sent it out the side of the block.

I was hoping the 6.7 would be a great engine cause Ford needs that!

6.0 and 6.4 are very similar but still different. 6.7 is completely redesigned and different.

I've seen some 6.7s that have thrown the wrist pin and broke Rods putting a hole in the block. Itll be interesting to see what keeps happening and how it plays out.

Think the 6.7 is a great engine, in stock form.. Heard of a lot of turbo failures too.

Ford changed again yes. However, This engine is all their baby. I will say this one is by far the best in stock form and does its job best stock. And the new engine has a single turbo with dual compressor wheels so it is the best of both worlds, power of twins but only spooling a single so it is an even better design that the compounds on the 6.4.

The 6.7 spools a lot faster than the 6.4. Ford scaled back the available fuel and air on the 6.7 so it hits a wall around 500rwhp which is a good thing for engine longevity. If you haven't seen the size of the new 6 speed trans you should try to crawl under one and check it out.
