Why do you have the model you do????
I am a lifer Ford guy I will admit, I have friends with dodges and chevys and have driven/ridden and towed with all 3 makes. As much as I like the "perks" of the other brands I can't force myself to give up my Ford!
I have come up with my conclusion as to why people buy one or the other make... FORD - People like me buy a Ford cause it's a Truck. Hands down the best chassis available up to 2012 models....GM and Dodge are gaining now though. GM - People buy GM's for ride comfort and gas engine fuel economy, or because it has an ALLISON transmission. DODGE - CUMMINS CUMMINS CUMMINS!!!! That pretty much sums it up. I got to thinking about this today after a dodge owner tried to start an argument by bashing my 6.0 while we were both fueling up. I laughed it off and went about my business. But it got me thinking, why do I always buy Fords....well because I work the heck out of my trucks, and Fords have always taken the beatings well for me. I like my truck to be a truck and for me that is a Ford! Obviously since I have a 6.0 :shakehead: I don't care what engine is in it, I just love the chassis. I am not bashing any other make, I like trucks in general. So how bout you? Why do you drive a Ford or GM or Dodge?????? |
I guess i just stuck with Ford since thats what my dad always had so i always bought em myself.

:insane: Chicks dig Dodge! Nuf said
In all honesty...I've owned them all. Dodge has always been more reliable and more confortable to me. |

I will openly admit...I have never owned a gm, no specific reason, just never have. I have had a dodge, 99 2500 with a 5.9 v8. It was a solid truck other then the tranny went out twice in 45k miles of my abuse. I have never not had at least 1 Ford though. Also had a 67 dodge d350 dump truck.......now that was a truck!!!! |
I hate dodges a far as the body I buy them for the cummins I think they look good but the transmissions are mostly junk and there wiring is awful same with there steering

|
Shhhhh don't tell anybody but I would really like to I love the way a ford is built body and frame wise but I really like the look of my second gen too no doubt though if I found one cheap I would be the proud new owner of a fummins

I think in general most would agree....ford has the best chassis, dodge has the best engine, and gm has the best creature comfort. Although each year all 3 seem to even out more and more! I like the 3rd gen dodge bodies, if I could force myself to I would buy an 04-06 dodge next......never know it may just happen, but I will keep one of my Fords always! |

I dig my 06 2500 cause its a common rail, and I got $3000 in the whole thing. You read that right, $3000. Total. Period... Nuff said...

Had a ford ranger then a dodge reg cab gas and loved that truck the. Had my f150 and from there really ford was the only way to go for me. Just all around like the styling much better then the chevys until the new 2500's.
F250 over f150 was purely for size and bang for buck. That and I didn't want to deal with broken spark plugs on an 04-07 f150 I could have afforded haha. But we've had a ford truck since early 90's and loved them old square bodies and just kept going with what I knew and was familiar with. |
My dad has owned fords since our company got big enough to where he needed a 3/4 as his daily, he drove around in a little toyota 4x4 22r. given at the time his company was only 5 years old he was still small and bought what he could afford. He had a 76 gmc flatbed the employees drove, we replaced that with a 99 chevy 3500 flatbed, but we traded that for the truck I have now. the gasser flatbed just couldnt handle what we needed it too. My dad has had a 96 f250 4x4 with a 460, a 99 f250 4x4 7.3 and now his 02 4x4 7.3. theyve all been work horses, ive had 2 ranger 4x4s with the 4.0, one auto and one 5sp, 2 f150 fx4 5.4s, one screw and one scab, and now my superduty. Ive just always liked the looks of fords, and now knowing what i know about all my fords performance Im glad thats the route im on.

well soon i will have all 3,gave my parents my 1970 f100, 2X4, reg cab long bed, I6 auto (still a great truck just they would use it more than i would i still consider her mine though). when i joined the AF i had a 88 chevy c1500 2X4 ext cab long bed with a 350 and th350 that i did a little work to but sold her to my neighbor because i had picked up my current 98 gmc c1500 2X4 ext cab medium bed (some of you might know what i'm talkin about). and hopefully soon i will be pickin up a 97 Ram 3500, 4X4, 5speed, reg cab 11' flat bed

I can probably thank my grandpa for gettin the family started in Fords. My grandparents had 6 kids so their vehicles of choice were chevy station wagons. Big 4 doors. Then he started buying big caddies. He had so much trouble with his caddies that he switched to Lincolns and the kids followed when they were older. My dad always had Fords and worked at a Ford tractor dealership so my brother and I followed him. Lots of stangs, cougars and trucks in our family over the yrs. Still have pretty much all of them still, havnt really gotten rid of any of them. I've been around Fords all my life but I just cant see myself in another brand. Fords just got all the right reasons to drive one. Pretty much have the truck market, commercial market, and the stang is still THE pony car to beat. I do have a Ford tattoo so yea haha. IF I did have to buy another truck, it would be a Dodge diesel hands down. I wouldnt even think of a GM. Just the way my family is. Kinda like the war between the Hatfields and McCoys, only its Ford vs Chevy here haha. Henry Ford is my hero!

uh, i was looking at 2nd gens because i drove a 97 dodge 1500 as my first truck, still have it and love it. but as i was looking i saw some first gens, started looking at them. Decided i loved the square bodies, and now i have one. I'm going to get another truck once i get settled in at a job after graduation. I will be picking up either a commonrail dodge or a dirtymax. I don't know why, but i don't like powerstrokes, but i do like the old IDI's.

^^^thats a great looking ol truck!
|
I'd trade them my truck for it.
|
Originally I was a ford guy. First "truck" was a 94 Eddie Bauer Bronco, I was in love lol. AFter getting a little age I had a chevy (gas burner) but it was a great truck too. Then I ended up turning wrenches at a Dodge dealer and the love of the Cummins started......To date I've had three so far in my years and have loved them all for diff reasons. At one point I almost bought an 05' 6.0 Furd....but after a few days of thinking and talking to friends that are ford mechanics, I just got scared lol. So purchased my current 05 Dodge and never looked back. My only complaint about my truck would be the front end components:win:..

hey midnight. dynatrac

ah, i really don't have a brand. My family for the most part are ford fans, my papaw broke away and bought a Chevrolet back in 79. He had Chevrolet's until 03, when he got tired of fixing his 6.5 Chevy diesel. He then bought a 03 ram 3500 HO Cummins 6-speed 4x4 dually. I have loved that truck since he bought it, the only problem i have with it is, he won't let me drive it.:troll3:

Midnight.....I hear ya on the 6.0!
When I was looking for a newer truck my brother tried talking me out of buying my 06 6.0. He has been a Parts Manager for Ford Dealership for about 15 years. But I made the mistake of driving my buddies tuned 04 6.0....and decided the risk was worth it! I was scared signing the papers though! |
Does it burn liquefied dead dinosaurs? Does it make lots and lots of noise? Does it smoke like a forest fire? If you answered "yes" to these, then it doesn't matter WHY you have what you have. That's why I like it here. Nothing to me sounds like an Ol 12 valve with buckets for injectors and cam lobes that look like eggs making boost like a hurricane...:imo::Rant:

Got the GMC because it rides great, and has the best looks of any truck make IMO. And it's FAST! And I love the ALLISON.
